Day 4 – Photoshoot!

In Norway it is usually standard procedure to take wedding photos on the day you get married. Not so in Vietnam….not so at all.

Na told me that we needed a day for the photoshoot. My reply was “What? Isn’t it like a 1 hour thing or so?” She just me gave me “the wife” look. That means you shut the hell up and just deal with it.
I’m still having trouble sleeping, and since Na told me that i had to get up at about 0700 i felt kinda worried. I slept from 2300 to 0300..that’s when i woke up with a back that was killing me and a feeling of having caffeine injected into my veins. I tried sleeping on my sides but that didn’t help much. Time went on and the alarm clock went off at 0600. I woke Na up, and she got her things ready and went out to the Make-up studio…and just left me there like a sleepless hobo.

After getting my shower groove on, someone knocked at my door. It was Nas sister. She said i should get ready and meet her downstairs in 5 minutes, which i did. We got into a taxi and drove out to the make-up studio to meet up with Na and the photographers. I was feeling pretty messed up at this point. The sight that met me when i walked in to the studio quickly made me feel a whole lot better…

“Giggedy giggedy giggedy” as Quagmire from Family Guy would have said.

I was told we were going to 4 different locations in Dalat to take photos and also 1 session in the photo studio. Na told me that it would probably take 10 hours (kill me…) but she jokingly said 5 hours or so after that (ok, not too bad…). We first headed off to a University campus to take some photos. Here are some “behind the scenes” photos i took from there:

Say hello to Nas sister..which is a real phantom on a scooter. She actually just drove, top speed, into the hallway of the house and just parked her scooter inside. How awesome is that?

Ok. A bit off topic now. The temperature here in Dalat is around 27-30 degrees celcius and it’s high above sea level. I take medicine (quick story-> cancer as a kid, chemo damaged the heart) that lowers my blood pressure and gives me other kinds of crazy side effects. I haven’t any problems with this for almost 2 years, but obviously the change in atmosphere and climate here are  giving me a hard time! It was really hot this day and i felt like passing out at least twice from low blood pressure. Also, white colors have a tendency to get extremely sharp, almost completely overshadowing everything else i see. It’s good stuff ;D But what can you do? Take it like a man!

SO! We went off to our next shooting destinaton..which was some nice park area. Here are some samples from there:

It was time for a break (aaaah yeah) and we all went to get some lunch together.

Fast forward to our 4th (and final outdoor location). A sorta erhm…”theme” park with boblseighs and shit. Me and Na got into a bob together and went downhill to this area with a beautiful waterfall. There were hundreds of people around and basically everyone was staring at us (Hey! Look at the hot local girl with the retarded white guy OHLOLOLOL!)

This was a cold and wet shoot. We had to sit and lie down in the damn waterfall etc.

After this was done it was time to go to the studio for the final shoot. We were both extremely tired after all this so it was gonna be great to finally be done with it.
I’m probably gonna regret some of these pictures for the rest of my life!

FU3000!

Last sample:

After a bit over 11 hours (o..m…g) we were finished. We were extremely tired but happy. It’s a once in a lifetime thing and you gotta make the most of it.

We went back to the house and relaxed abit before heading out again with my friends and parents for some dinner and drinks. We found this nice bar that was pretty cozy…with an eager bartender that wanted to show his amazing showmanship skills. He threw some bottles around in the air, some glasses (WITH water in them) etc. Pretty entertaining. However, he sucked at taking photos..here’s his blurry masterpiece:

I first had a Brandy Alexander..which tasted like poop. Then i wanted to try a Bailyes Milkshake, but the bartender persuaded me to try a drink called “PS I love you!”. It was decent but way to sweet for my liking.
Tommy ordered 3 or 4 “Sex on the beach”. Cause he’s just that kinda guy. Na had some Long Island Ice Tea and Mojito.

We went home at about 2300. Some much needed and well deserved sleep was gonna be good. Although i suspect i wouldn’t get more than the usual 4 hours of sleep!

Thanks for reading! More to come
